This Kars Kazak comes from the Kars region in eastern Turkey, where rugs are knotted in the bold, geometric style of the Caucasian Kazaks. Two stepped red medallions with Greek-key and hooked motifs sit on an ivory field, with stepped blue corner pieces full of small crosses. Green running-dog guard borders frame a wide main border of diagonal, serrated leaves in red, blue and green. Knotted wool on wool, with a full, sturdy pile.
