Choose a selection from more than 3,000 unique rugs, online or in our gallery in Amstelveen (ten minutes from Amsterdam-Zuid), and we will bring them to you free of charge. Every rug is knotted by hand from wool or silk and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

How our free home viewing service works in Amsterdam

You don't buy a Persian rug from a photo. Colour, sheen and size change with the light and the room. That is why we have offered a home viewing service since 1994: in Amsterdam, Amstelveen and the whole region.

  1. You choose

Browse our Persian rugs online or visit our gallery in Amstelveen. We bring three to eight rugs for you, so you can really compare them at home.

  2. We schedule

Call 020-6405177 or book an appointment online. We agree on a time that suits you, with no obligation and no call-out fee.

  3. We visit you

We lay the rugs out in your home, move them around a few times if you like, and give honest advice on size, colour and care.

  4. You decide at your own pace

The rug that fits stays. Whatever doesn't fit, we take straight back with us. No obligation, no delivery costs.

Our Persian rugs: hand-knotted, by origin and size

Our collection covers the great classical weaving centres of Iran and hand-knotted rugs in the Persian tradition. Every piece is unique: there is no second one.

Nain

Finely knotted, often wool with silk, in ivory and blue. The classic Persian rug for a bright living room.

Tabriz

Rich medallion and floral patterns, high knot density. For anyone who wants a rug as the centrepiece of the room.

Kashan

Warm red and deep blue, sturdy and timeless. One of our most requested Persian rugs.

Heriz

Geometric, bold and strong: a Heriz works surprisingly well in a modern canal house.

Persian rug 200 x 300 cm

The most popular size for living and dining rooms. Available directly from stock.

Persian rug 250 x 350 cm and larger

For spacious living rooms and seating areas. Nothing fits? Then we have a made-to-measure rug knotted for you.

How do you recognise a genuine hand-knotted Persian rug?

Not everything sold as "Persian" is hand-knotted. Four simple checks show you the difference, and with us you are welcome to carry out all four before you buy.

The backOn a hand-knotted rug the pattern on the back is just as sharp as on the front, and every knot is individually visible. A machine-made rug has a smooth, even back, often with a layer of latex or mesh.
The fringesReal fringes are the continuous warp threads of the rug itself. If they have been sewn or glued on afterwards, the rug is almost certainly machine-made.
Small irregularitiesHandwork is never perfectly symmetrical: a medallion sits a centimetre off-centre, a border runs slightly narrower. That is not a flaw, it is the proof.
Material and knot densityWool feels warm and slightly greasy, silk cool and lustrous. The more knots per square centimetre, the finer the pattern and the longer the rug lasts. Feel free to ask us about the knot density of any rug.

Every hand-knotted Persian rug from Hamming van Seventer comes with a certificate of authenticity.

"Amsterdam homes call for a rug that can take some wear and has character: an old Heriz in a high-ceilinged room, a fine Nain in a bright apartment. We bring them along, you choose at home."— Galerie Hamming van Seventer
