Rugs & Persian carpets in Hilversum
Galerie Hamming van Seventer · since 2018 · family business with 3 branches
Galerie Hamming van Seventer in Hilversum is the place for hand-knotted rugs, oriental carpets, kilims, and Persian rugs. Since 2018, this has been our third branch — opened to serve the Gooi region and surroundings from a central location on 's Gravelandseweg. Our family business was founded in 1994 in Groningen and has grown into one of the Netherlands' most specialized oriental carpet galleries — now with three branches and 3,000+ unique carpets in stock. With us, you don't buy mass-produced items: every carpet is hand-knotted or woven from 100% wool or silk, vegetable-dyed, and unique — an investment for life, from approximately €1,450 to €9,950.

Frequently asked questions
Can I view a rug at home on approval?
Yes. With our free at-home viewing service, we visit you at home with a selection of rugs, so you can see how the rug works in your own interior, with your own light and furniture. No obligation to buy, no shipping costs. We have been offering this service since 1994.
How much does a hand-knotted rug cost at Hamming van Seventer?
Our rugs start around €1,450 for smaller kilims and go up to about €9,950 for exceptional silk Persian pieces. The price depends on knots-per-cm², material (wool or silk), origin, age, and size.
What is the difference between a kilim and a Persian rug?
A kilim is woven (flat, no pile) with geometric patterns. A Persian rug is knotted (with pile, thick) and offers more design freedom for fine floral and medallion patterns. We have both in stock.
Can I have a custom rug made?
Yes. If nothing from our stock fits your dimensions, we will have a custom rug knotted or woven. Delivery time averages 8–16 weeks.
