A hand-knotted Persian Khashkuli rug (Qashqai) from Iran. In the photo you can see horizontal bands in bright red and burgundy, alternating with dark blue and steel blue. Within each band the colour shifts subtly, and fine dotted lines run along the transitions. Knotted in wool on a wool foundation: simple in design, rich in colour.
